Meet the artist ...
Hello, my name is Jasmine Ward and the owner of JW Art. I'm an artist based in Binstead on the very pretty Isle of Wight and I specialise in pet & family portraits.
Ever since I was little I have always had a love for art. I completed a Foundation Art Diploma which followed on to an Illustration Degree at Portsmouth University, shortly after I began creating paintings for my own enjoyment and after posting a few photos of my work on social media it began getting some attention which lead to commission orders. This is something I slowly built up alongside working in a local dental surgery.
I had always solely used acrylic paints for my artwork but one day decided to mix it up a little and experiment with pen sketches. The Bumble Bee design was my first piece and I thought to myself why not try out having my work printed onto merchandise. From there it grew and grew and now I have a wide selection of pen sketches available on a range of merchandise whilst still taking on commissions.
Originally I had no choice but to order my merchandise in from a Mainland printing company but this became pricey and I am incredibly picky on quality and attention to detail. I'm a little bit of a perfectionist! I decided to take the plunge and invest in my own printing equipment. Now this took some serious practice but I was determined to learn the sublimation process and after lots of trial and error I can finally say this is a skill I have achieved.
I now print the majority of my merchandise all by myself from home, it's lovely to also be able to offer my commission customers the option to have their bespoke artwork printed onto mugs, keyrings or coasters etc. The paper stock such as my bookmarks, notebooks and cards are professionally printed elsewhere by a wonderful company who make all of their own 100% recycled paper/card stock.
When I'm not painting and sketching I'm always very busy looking after my two beautiful little boys, helping my husband run his carpentry company, enjoying long walks with our Staffordshire Bull Terrier “Daisy” (to Quarr Abbey and back is one of her favourites) and spending time with family.
